Assessment
Locate the pulse site (radial, carotid, brachial, etc.).
Use index and middle fingers to palpate the pulse. (Do not use thumb).
Count beats for 30 seconds and multiply by two (or count for 60 seconds if irregular).
Assess rhythm, strength, and quality of the pulse.
Correlate with pulse oximeter reading and/or cardiac monitor if available.
Document findings and report abnormalities.

Properly identifies normal range or notifies proper personnel.
